Majorca East Tourism Guide - East Majorca

East Majorca, particularly the coast, has a laid back low key Mallorca holiday approach, hence it's popularity with famiilies who return again and again to their favourite East Coast Majorca resort. The two main inland centres are Manacor and Arta, Arta being the most attractive of the two and Manacor being the larger - the second largest town in Majorca in fact. Manacor is also the centre for Majorca's grey artificial peal production.

What you get along the Majorca East coast, Majorca resort wise, is in a word variety. What's your bag, posh posh Cala d'or or all-inclusive Majorca resorts handy for families, for example at Cala Millor (a renowned Majorca resort favourite with the Brits). If you move to the north east along the coast, you start getting remoter beyond Cala Ratjada. You'll find lots of untouched beaches up that way. It's the East Majorca beaches that really pull in visitors along the east coast, some of the best of which can be found at Cala Mesquida, Cala Mitjana and Cala Torta. This is the area to come for the popular Majorca caves too, found particularly at Coves d'Arta and Coves del Drac. Othe popular East Majorca coastal resorts include Cala Ratjada, Porto Colom and Porto Petro. You're moving into Christopher Columbus territory down here as well. Columbus learnt to sail at Porto Colom!

East Majorca Beaches

East Majorca offers a superb choice of glorious Majorca beaches, backed on by long-established Majorca resorts such as Cala Millor and Cala Ratjada. The North East coast of Majorca offers more cove like, rocky enclave beaches, for example those Majorca beaches found around Cala Ratjada. There's the odd good Majorca surfing beach up this end as well. Capdepera has many of the most beautiful beaches and coves on Majorca's east coast. The areas of Cala Ratjada, Cala Mesquida, Canyamel and Font de Sa Cala are prime tourist spots, with excellent beaches, and with the Arta Caves nearby which make a spectacular family day out! Move South along the Majorca East coast to popular Cala Millor, probably one of the most renowned Majorca package holiday resorts offering a good sandy beach, lots of bars and plenty of cheap Majorca hotel accommodation. Cala D'or is also extremely popular, but has a much different feel with a choice of picture postcard cove beaches, select Majorca shops, a good choice of family restaurants and bars and an aspiration to upmarket luxury which it does a little with it's choice of Majorca deluxe villas and celebrity name dropping. Expect the Majorca holiday crowds here in peak summer season!!
