Balearic Islands Tourism Guide - Majorca Golf

Majorca is a paradise for golf lovers, and Majorca takes golf very seriously, indeedy do, it's big business. Why golfers choose Mallorca as their favourite destination is mostly obvious. Simply, the island has a perfect climate, a beautiful setting, a wide choice of accommodation from budget to luxury fincas and villas, and there is real variety in the choice of golf courses. There are 19 official golf courses set in this relaxing Mediterranean climate as well as many Majorca golf hotels and smaller golf courses on spa leisure complexes, combined with a variety of other leisure activities such as swimming pools, spas, beauty treatments, tennis, and more usually on the Majorca golf complexes.

Many Majorca hotels are specifically Majorca golf hotels, either adjacent to one of the many Majorca golf courses, or with easy access to golf facilities. You're never less than an hour's drive from a golf course in Majorca! Each of the golf courses has its own challenges and characteristics and provides an exceptional combination of holes in peaceful, natural settings, so you can package your very own golf holiday with ease.

Majorca Golf Holidays

Most golf courses in Majorca belong to the "Majorca - Golf" brand which guarantees excellent facilities and customer care. All of these golf courses have taken care to align themselves to the eco-tourism of the island. About 79,000 golfers, according to a survey, visited Majorca in 2001 to play golf, so basically golf courses in Majorca are incredibly popular. It is recommended to book your tee times in advance of your holiday and peak golf season in Majorca is from October to May! In the hot summer months early tee times are recommended for obvious reasons - the heat!

Dress code is usually a good pair of shorts or trousers, and a collared shirt for ladies. Some golf courses do ask for evidence of a handicap before allowing you onto the course. Most don't but it's worth checking this prior to your holiday. Golf Andratx will want to see proof of a golf handicap. You can hire clubs at most of the courses and there are also many driving ranges for practice. Recommended for beginners are the golf courses at the Marriott and Son Vida as these offer special golf academies for beginners.

Majorca is a paradise for golf lovers. And it's not just us who say this. Golfers choose the island as their favourite destination for lots of reasons: the unique variety in its 19 golf courses, its relaxing Mediterranean setting, the leisure, culture, gastronomy and, of course, the fantastic climate.

Majorca Golf Courses, Pollenca

Golf Pollenca in the North of the island offers a Green fee of 9 to 18 holes. There are good fairways here with plenty of sand and a few lakes plus excellent views of the coast. There are a variety of facilities at this golf course including pitching and putting greens, a driving range, buggies, trollies and clubs which you can hire, a superb bar and restaurant, a TV and games room and a swimming pool.

Pollenca Golf Club is located in the north-east of the island of Mallorca, in Pollenca. The golf course is only 35 minutes from Palma international airport, and two kilometres from Pollenca, a region bordered to the sea to the north, by Alcudia to the east, and by Sapla and Campanet to the south. The Club is situated on the Palma- Pollenca road.

The Pollenca golf course is of average difficulty, very undulating and short with a lot of trees and countless natural hazards. The greens are maintained in perfect condition and there are two lakes and much indigenous vegetation, above all olive and pine trees. The par-5 5th hole is a real challenge, with its long and narrow fairway, partially lined with trees which lead up to a two-tiered green with two bunkers to the right.

Majorca Golf Courses - Capdepera

Capdepera is one of the best courses in Majorca, and is conveniently placed near the Family friendly resorts along the East coast of Majorca. You'll find the Capdepera course just between the villages of Arta and Capdepera in the North East of Majorca.

Capdepera is indeed a beautiful course with six lakes and is hidden in a spectacular valley surrounded by mountains, so superb views to be had from this golf course. Both beginners and experts are welcome here, and bonus there's a reputable golf school at this golf course which runs courses all year round! Highly recommended.

To get to Capdepera Golf from Palma or from the Airport, follow the road C-715, connecting Palma with the east coast of Mallorca. The road C-715 runs from Palma to Cala Rajada and the Capdepera Golf it's on the Km. 3,5 in between the villages of Arta and Capdepera.
