Majorca and Balearic Island resort apartment complexes are usually well-equipped with bars, pool-bars, snack-bar and restaurants. Other Majorca apartment complex amenities can include games room, a supermarket, video games, snooker and darts, usually more than 1 swimming pools, tennis-courts and more. With food outlets on-site you can dip into these handy services at your leisure without being tied into breakfast, lunch and dinner times. A self catering apartment, yet with all amenities on hand should you need them!
Look at the board basis for apartments. Options can vary from self catering to apartments on aparthotel complexes which have access to an all inclusive or B&B/Half board option. Even self catering apartments in the top Majorca, Menorca and Ibiza resorts often still include access to a choice of leisure facilities on the apartment complex such as swimming pools, sun terraces, table tennis, tennis, volleyball, a mini market, a tv loung and a working reception area with money exchange.
There is a slight difference between studios and apartments. Studios are self contained units, usually smaller and good for couples. Studios will include a sleeping and dining area with a kitchenette and basic cooking facilities which usually include cooking rings, a fridge, and possibly ovens and microwaves. Apartments are usually larger, with separate bedrooms (one or more). A general rule of thumb is that studios in Majorca and across the Balearics tend to be smaller and more open plan that apartments.
Facilities in apartments will vary depending on rating. Two key graded apartments and above will offer all the basics, although at the 2 key end air conditioning may not be standard, and instead you'll have a ceiling fan. For apartments with plenty of space watch out for duplex style apartments. These Majorca apartments will be on two floors rather than one, and for large families are ideal.
A top tip is to check whether your apartment has air conditioning, if that's a must have for you especially in the peak summer months. Some apartments have just fans, or no air conditioning in contracts to most Majorca hotels which do have it. Air conditioning can provide hot air too in the winter months, and Majorca does get cooler between October to February, so this issue is certainly worth checking. Apartments are usually classified by "Keys" from 1 key up to 4 key and are shown as K to KKKK, although often with apartments on complexes with numerous leisure and restaurant facilities they'll grade themselves as star gradings. Most Balearics apartments are around the 3 key, 3 star grade, with features such as air conditioning, swimming pools and buffet restaurants all on-site.
